Children’s Week™ is a national celebration of children’s rights, talents and citizenship and always celebrated around Universal Children's Day which is held on the fourth Wednesday of October in Australia. The children's week fun continues all week and our handy guide has all the action for you to pick and choose from.

 

Romp & Stomp at the Melbourne Museum, Carlton

Wednesday 26th October

Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Children is especially for children between the ages of 0 and 5 years of age to experience a number of fun play-based activities which are age appropriate and emphasise the different aspects of early childhood learning and development. Today Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Children is in its 14th successful year, raising the awareness of the importance of early childhood development within the community.

Children's Week Family Fun Day, Hawthorn

Saturday 22nd October

Hawthorn The Family Fun Day is a great opportunity for the community to connect to some great services and participate in fun activities.

The day will include craft activities by Boroondara Library Services, performances by local groups, come-and-try activities with the YMCA, puppet making workshops and much more.

 

Children's Week Picnic, Werribee South

Sunday 23rd October

Get your kids ready for a family fun day on Sunday 23 October for the Children’s Week Picnic at Werribee Park. This free event has a huge range of activities for children of all ages - there is something for everyone!

 

Geelong's Big Play Day, Geelong Botanic Gardens

Tuesday 25th October

Children's Week in Geelong represents one of the largest community celebrations focusing on young children. Come and see the Mik Maks, enjoy some children's yoga and a pop up recycled play area at this free and fun day out.

 

Dancing Story Storytime Ballet Workshops with The Australian Ballet, Aspendale Gardens

Tuesday 25th October

As part of Children’s Week, AGCS is proud to present an unforgettable dance and literacy experience led by a member of the Australian Ballet’s education team.

Suitable for preschool aged children 3-5 years, these unique workshops offer participants an opportunity to explore the story of The Sleeping Beauty through dance and movement.

 

Children's Week Picnic at The Collingwood Children's Farm, Abbotsford

Monday 24th October

Council invites all families, primary schools and children’s services in Yarra to the annual Children’s Week Picnic at the Collingwood Children’s Farm, St Helier’s Street Abbotsford. Come along for the traditional hay rides, milking the cow, face painting, songs and stories and the usual array of feathery, furry, hairy, aromatic creatures feeding and foraging at the Farm.

 

Family Fun Day at The Shed, Drysdale

23rd October

The Potato Shed welcomed over 7,000 people for this amazing celebration of family life last year!

This must-do Bellarine event is full of fun activities for the whole family including a live play by Theatre 3triple2 4 Kids, live music, face painting, animal farm, bungee run, skate park, crafts, storytelling, sports Zone and workshops. Returning for 2016 are the ever popular Mik Maks!!

It's a packed week full of noisy storytime, a teddy bears picnic storytime, parent and child workshops, an open house, face painting and activities - check out the calendar for the lowdown!

 

Children's Week Celebrations, Yarra Ranges

Monday 24th - Friday 28th October

Children's Week will be celebrated in 2016 by providing a variety of family orientated activities held in various loctions throughout the Yarra Ranges.

Partner agencies will support this process by hosting activities in the 5 following locations, Yarra Junction, Woori Yallock, Chirnside Park, Healesville and Upwey.

Moonee Valley Celebrating Children's Week

Saturday 22nd - Sunday 30th October

Kicking off from Saturday, 22 October to Sunday, 30 October, this year’s Children’s Week events will celebrate children’s rights, talents and citizenship.

There's retro games, the Essendon traffic school, special storytimes and a Grandparent's morning tea.

 

Children's Festival, Carnegie

Saturday 29th October

Animals, balloons, storytime, facepainting and craft activities! Ever wanted to meet your favourite animal up close? Children will have the opportunity to touch, feed, hold and see some friendly farm animals, including rabbits; calves; lambs; roosters; ducks; piglets; goats; guinea pigs; geese; turkeys; and chickens.
