Little Melbourne Reviews
Crawl, climb and scramble into....Growing Wild at the Melbourne Zoo.
Growing Wild is specifically designed for 3-8 year olds (though our 2.5 year old thought it was tops!) and includes really fun, interactive play experiences, taking children from the familiar to the unfamiliar, encouraging dexterity, communication, imagination, excitement, problem solving and the best bit....free-play!
The space is large, very large, allowing room for prams and families to get around and kids to run, walk and just be. There's only one entrance in and one entrance out making it so much easier to keep track of your kids.
This new oasis can only be described as a mini world where tunnels, paths and animals meet. It's an introduction to MeerKats, Giant Tortoises and Brush Turkeys, where you can get up close (but not too close) and personal.
Our four year old ran in and out of tunnels, while our toddler preferred to climb rocks and burrow in the sand but they were both mesmerized by the Giant Tortoise Shells and how you could climb on top and slide down or get down low and climb inside.
Growing Wild is learning through play at its finest and will have you coming back again and again.
When you're done with Growing Wild, Keeper Kids is next door (another fun interactive experience for little ones) and MeerKat Manor Cafe is at your convenience if you've worked up an appetite after all that playing!
