As far as day trips go, this one is as pretty as they come. Meander through the 'secret' gardens and if you're here at the right time of year (generally first couple of weeks in October) you'll take in the beauty of the arch full of wisteria - magical!
It's a mixed bag here (but full to the trip of goodness) - formal gardens, edible gardens, Australian native gardens, birch tree forest, poppy field, perennials, a nursery and cafe. It's certainly breath-takingly beautiful from every angle.
As you sit amongst the trees, vines and roses you can enjoy your devonshire tea from the cafe. While you're enjoy a spot of peacefullness the kids can hang out on the big sized chess board.
Alowyn Gardens is definitely the 'Hidden Gem' of the Yarra Valley.
