Parties Kids Activities Melbourne
I’ve been on the hunt for great ideas for kids parties around Melbourne for the last 12 months for my blog Purple Party People Melbourne. I’ve been visiting places, taking photographs and asking lots and lots of questions. Thankfully, Melbourne has come a long way since my day, when a special birthday party was one at a certain food chain with a big yellow M out the front. These days we are spoilt for choice.
Here are the top kids party venues and ideas that I have discovered this year:
Little Picnic will park their charming 50s caravan at a selected park and set up a picnic table, rugs, cushions and bunting. The caravan is stocked with party equipment, such as platters, bowls, a cake stand, napkins and those cute little milk bottles. You can help yourself to anything in the caravan, as well as the games cupboard, including pin the tail on the donkey and tug of war.
Although the Fairy Park is a bit further out of Melbourne, this is a magical venue for kids parties. Located in Anakie, about an hour from Melbourne, there are a number of areas where groups can set up their parties. The kids will love discovering the fairytale displays and playing at the Camelot Playground.
Firefighter Rob will take children for a spin in either his modern-day fire engine or his vintage 1940s fire engine. The kids will get all fired up with excitement when he rings the large gold bell, activates the flashing lights or lets them listen to real-time emergencies on the fire radio.
Myuna Farm, in Doveton, has lots of indoor and outdoor party areas. As well as patting the animals in the nursery, kids will also be able to see cows, donkeys, pigs, sheep, emus and kangaroos. Party groups can also take a ride on the train, suitably called the Myuna Ghan, go on a pony ride, or play in the wooden maze and playground.
Creative kids can make a stunning work of art at a Petit Atelier party in Prahran. Set in a beautiful space, the children will work on a creative project, such as a terrarium, hot air balloon or a funky fabric canvas. Afterwards, they can enjoy some snacks in the tastefully decorated party room.
