teatime_kid_friendly_cafesOnce upon a time, you could enjoy a leisurely latte and read the newspaper in peace at your local cafe or enjoy a restaurant spulge whenever you felt like it without worrying about pram access or the proximity to the nearest changing table.

But these days you can’t remember the last meal out that didn’t come with crayons. With two children under 2.5 years, boy do we understand this! We scour the 'Kid-Friendly', 'Family Friendly' and Grown-up Melbourne dining scene to uncover tasty spots that really are kid-friendly and foodie worthy, then bring you our favourites. We're not reviewers by any means but we do love Melbourne's cool cafe scene and eat out a lot so I think it's only natural that we share a few of them with you - we really are spoilt for choice in Melbourne.

Sprinkled throughout the cafe and restaurant 'reviews' are tips for dining out with mini royalty, like beat the dinner rush with a late-afternoon seating at one of our fav's and locals, Mr. Wolf.

We're interested in eating where children are welcome and where us adults actually WANT to go. If there’s a kid’s menu, great. If not, we’ll work with what they've got.

So we bring you our family’s experiences eating out in Melbourne! Let the fun begin......

Blogs: We've all read them. We read them to draw inspiration, (mainly for recipes, design and kid stuff), to feel inspired and get some tips and ideas for the family meals. There are a load of great blogs out there that offer tasty morsels of information that will get the creative juices flowing for kid-hit family meals. There's also recipes that your little foodie may want to try themselves. Here's some of our most visited foodie blogs:

Too busy, too tired or feeling uninspired? Here, hundreds of Mums share everyday recipes. Thirty minute meals, sure, but $10 dinners? You don't have to figure out how to stretch the dollar in these challenging times, follow the 10 Dinner Meals under $10 challenge.

This is the place to find fresh and healthy nosh that any parent needs to feed your family, where the love of food starts at home. Mish is also part of The Mum and the Chef Series.

This foodie lady has five kids, so she can tickle any taste bud and she blogs about more than just food, which is just so refreshing. In addition to all this she offers a great site with recipes that we want to start making now!

Making parenting easier, with recipes that hide healthy ingredients. Loving it! Plus, the traffic light swirls are a big hit in our household!

and if you're looking for something with a zing that takes you back to your single days when you cooked what you wanted when you wanted, check out:
