Kid Friendly Cafes
Stir, chop, and blend your way to a good time with the latest edition of the all new Little Kitchen Around the World by Sabrina Parrini.
Created with the mini home chef in mind, this book will take you on a culinary trip around the world and you don't even need to leave home to do it. Team this with 36 recipes from Italy, Greece, Morocco, Mexico, Australia and others, you'll soon be whipping up fresh, healthy-inspired family meals or for sweet tooths there's French Creme Caramel, Mum's Lemon Biscotti or Crispy Coconut Bananas to name a few wow factor treats. If edamame is as close to Tokyo as your cooking usually gets, there's a glossary to familiarise you with common ingredients. Don't have Mirin, Girello or Vialone Nano Rice in your pantry? You'll soon get worldly in no time.
The book, in true Little Kitchen style, is full of colourful and inspiring pictures, easy to follow instructions, handy hints for budding chefs, safety tips and cooking downloads. Although aimed at 7 - 12 year olds, our 3.5 year old was happy to help out and be the 'star' mini helper on hand.
Flip to the back of the book and the last recipe we found and tested was the Bread and Butter Pudding. Given that this Papa in our household is British and our Baby Boy loves raisin bread this was a win-win recipe for us and it didn't disappoint!
Once the pudding was out of the way and gobbled up we moved onto whipping up something from Japan. As sushi is a staple in our house it was fun to see a new spin on something Japanese so we made a batch of Potato Gems. These were a cinch to make and had us wanting more. They're even better the next day served cold and we could see why these would be a big hit at a Birthday Party!
My little girl and I also made the Valencia Orange Cake (this Mumma loves anything with Almond Meal) and it went down a treat when some friends came over on a Sunday afternoon. Not even a piece to spare.
On our foodie journey we cooked up a storm of British, Japanese and Spanish inspired flavours.
