Parks & Playgrounds Kids Activities Melbourne
Crisp air, cool sunny days and The Great Outdoors.
Take a visit to Melbourne's beautiful park life and enjoy some local jems like the Family-friendly Botanic Gardens, Historic Como House, adventure playgrounds and more. These green spaces make the perfect place to stroll, ride bikes, scooter, throw a ball, picnic or just sit in the sunshine.
We love Alma Park, afterall it is one of our local playground hangouts!
This grand playground is divided into different areas and if you've arrived via Alma Road you'll first run into the wooden treehouse. This is the most 'recent' (approx 2 years old now) addition to the playground. It then opens out into a vast playing field of swings, climbing frames, mini flying fox (broken on our last visit), twisty slides, another slide with wooden cubby house underneath and tunnels to enter. There's more adventure to be had on the bigger flying fox - so good we've seen Adults climb on.
Ride the waves, paddle in the water, play in the sand and slip, slop, slap on the shore. Here's a few we frequent when the sun is out and we're ready to play.
St Kilda: A hotspot for tourists and locals alike and famed with a backdrop of Luna Park and Acland Street or Fitzroy Street within walking distance. Along the foreshore or in the water you can rollerblade, go fishing, windsurf or go kite boarding or just relax by the sand with your fish and chips or grab an ice-cream or Gelato from 7 Apples on Acland Street and walk the boardwalk.
What's harder to pack than a weekender? A picnic basket.
Find a spot of grass and get down to brass tacks, er, chicken salad. Here's some top spots to laze under the shade of a tree.
